The Real Housewives of Atlanta is an American reality television series on the Bravo cable network that premiered in the fall of 2008. Following the format of its predecessors (The Real Housewives of Orange County and The Real Housewives of New York City), in 2009 the Atlanta series was not only the highest rated show of the The Real Housewives of... franchise, it was the highest rated reality series on the Bravo network.

The show revolves around women in the Atlanta metropolitan area juggling their home, social and business lives. The Real Housewives of Atlanta currently stars amateur fashion designer Shereé Whitfield, news correspondent NeNe Leakes, singer and wig designer Kim Zolciak, record producer/singer/Grammy Award Winner Kandi Burruss, runway model Cynthia Bailey, attorney Phaedra Parks and philanthropist Marlo Hampton.

The season three finale episode brought in 4.4 million viewers making it the highest rated episode in Housewives history. The show is currently the highest-rated series out of the series and the highest rated on Bravo. Filming for the fourth season began in late April 2011.

The series averaged 1.13 million adults 18-49 and 1.495 million total viewers, with the reunion telecast totaling 2.055 million adults 18-49 and 2.817 million total viewers tuning in.
Clearly, viewers are not bored yet. “Real Housewives of Atlanta” brought home 2.7 million viewers Thursday night, the most for any “Real Housewives” franchise debut.

And that’s far more than the first episode of last fall, which attracted just 656,000 viewers, though interest grew steadily until the finale. That tension-packed special took in 2.8 million viewers.

In comparison,to watch the season two premiere of ‘The Real Housewives of New York” opened at 1.6 million and the season two premiere of “The Real Housewives of Orange County” took in 1.1 million viewers.
